Description
This is an ultra rare 1 off item of the popular band STATUS QUO from very early in their careers.
This is a studio acetate of the track BLACK VEILS OF MELANCHOLY from the sessions of their very first LP release PICTURESQUE MATCHSTICKABLE MESSAGES FROM THE STATUS QUO released 1968 ! This track went on to be their second single release and flopped making it very rare.
IT is a 10 inch acetate and was a rejected take. Sent back for the track to be adjust -2dbs. Written on rear of Acetate in Studio white pen.
ACETATES are renowned for ltd playability and i have to say this is in great condition for this type of record and age ! A heavier weighted stylus is recommended as lightweight styluses may result in the odd stick as these are metal based and the grooves are very much thinner in the amount of wax used. On my deck it plays through no problem with the sylus arm weight increased. Remember these were not for commercial use anyway.
I also have the Acetate of CELLOPHANE SKIES listed. These are the only 2 i have and came from a previous employee of Pye Records who the came to work at our local RCA factory in Washington many years ago. Sadly this facility no longer exists today.
