Description
SPK – No More / Contact / Germanik 7”
ultra rare 1979 Australian electronic industrial punk
Side A: No More / Contact
Side B: Germanik
The record is one of only 200 pressed. The disc is in near mint condition in the original b&w sleeve.
In late seventies SPK were nastier than Throbbing Gristle or Controlled Bleeding, or any other industrial or punk band in the world. They made a name for themselves with thumping rhythms, screaming guitars, metal percussion and synthesiser assaults before Einsturzende Neubauten become the darlings of the industrial scene.
SPK eventually left Sydney to become Surgical Penis Klinik, System Planning Korporation, SoliPsiK, Sozialistisches Patienten Kollektiv, and SepPuKu, and shifted away from confrontational music, videos (autopsy footage as film clips) and performances (attacking pigs heads on stage) to become a more dance orientated, electronic outfit. This single shows none of what was become. Distorted, aggressive, frantic, and angry, this single is more punk than most punk, but is sadly overlooked in the punk listings and is usually classified as electronic or industrial. The three songs attack you from the speakers while the band sound possessed. The first song starts, “I’m a madman amok with a meat cleaver, chop chop chopping up all you breeders’, and doesn’t soften up form there.
