SPEEDWAY / CHERI BABY ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by SPEEDWAY PEOPLE produced by PIPPO LA ROSA. Original Italian pressing on DIG-IT label (DG 1118), from 1975. Little known, yet desirable disco oddity orchestrated by the label owner, Pippo La Rosa. Features the killer scat lounge theme SPEEDWAY with sexy mid '70s Paola - Nora Orlandi style vocal chorus. Funky psychedelic groove (tres French Library sounding) with wah wah / rock drums and disco bassline / hard piano / baroque strings and wonky cosmic synthesizers. Great for DJs with infectious breaks and booming production. Special mention for the unknown session player with that super-cool, Ben & Platano Group-esque guitar strut too ;) Hot record with certain Japanese collectors who know it. Actually a pretty difficult item to find in nice condition as most copies are usually always trashed. Textured sleeve artwork to die for with striking pop art / Captain America cum Mr Freedom inspired imagery. Rare 45!!!

Vinyl is in strong, shiny VG++ condition (closer to M-) with a few hairlines and light scuffs. Some light surface noises. Booming production sound. The textured soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG+ condition with light general wear from storage. Corner wear in places / ring creasing and ring dirt marks / a few chips cum wear marks to edges. Rare 45!!!
