Description

.PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.

The scarce and underrated GOLIATH album released in 1970 on CBS Records (UK/France/Aus.) - their one and only album

Eight of the nine songs are GOLIATH originals, including “Men”, “Prism,” “No More Trash,” and “Festival of Light.” Side one climaxes with the 10-minute “Hunters Song.” The frenetic opener, “Port and Lemon Lady,” is an inspired energetic winner. The album’s one cover, “Maajun (A Taste of Tangier),” was written by UK folk artist Davy Graham.
GOLIATH was engineered at CBS Studio, London, by Mike FitzHenry (Gun, Andwella’s Dream, Skin Alley, Matching Mole). The fragile UK cover (usually is, not here, found with wear) features a bent, discarded cigarette, shot foreground to resemble a giant, ruptured saxophone for reasons not reflecting the album contents. Guessing was an "arty" statement, go figure...
  1. Musically, the songs are characterized by staccato fret-board runs, angular rhythmic patterns, and the presence of Joseph Rosbotham’s spicy woodwinds and Linda Rothwell’s dynamic & infectious vocals. Though it would be their only album, GOLIATH's signature style was subsequently echoed in the UK band Catapilla.

A: “Port and Lemon Lady” (4:05)
“Festival of Light” (4:58)
“No More Trash” (3:43)
“Hunter’s Song” (9:54)
B:
“Men” (3:43)
“I Heard About a Friend” (4:31)
“Prism” (6:06)
“Emerge, Breath, Sunshine, Dandelion” (3:32)
“Maajun (A Taste of Tangier)” (4:30)
  1. CONDITION:
  2. The cover: rated: near M- very fragile U.K. cover handled carefully past the last 56 years ...Has no faded areas, no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing  ...
  1. The vinyl: Rated: VG+(+) & audio plays "EX" (excellent) /M- yes, plays strong without bothersome surface. Sides have hard to see light non-feelable wispy hair scuffs not affecting audio, same on side two, one long light hair-scuff visible, not audible. Entire album is solid listening, and both UK C.B.S. labels are clean
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
