MANZARA / SOSEME MAKONDE ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by MAKONDE. Original French pressing on EMI label (2C 006 82.375), from 1977. Killer, French-only, double-sider featuring the ultra-infectious MANZARA afro funk disco tune comped by Kon and Amir for their influential Kings of Diggin' selection. MANZARA was also comped on School Yard Breaks Vol 1 and has always been an underground B-boy anthem rocked by the original DJs like Grandmaster Flash / Kool Herc and Jazzy Jay. Superb, French groove with funky bugged-out clavinet / vocals sung in English / afro horns / hissing disco hi-hats / raw fender bass / samba whistles and deadly percussion breaks midway. The SOSEME MAKONDE side is more spaced-out and cosmic with syncopated / weird funk rhythms. Flashes of buzzing electronics / humming chants / vocals sung in Swahili and exotic percussion breaks too. Top sleeve artwork showing this insane looking group :) Rare 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in strong VG++ condition with some hairlines. Some light surface noises. The card picture sleeve is in strong VG+ condition with creasing from storage (mostly to bottom left and right corner area). Some wear marks to corners and edges. Ring wear / ring dirt marks to back sleeve. Rare 45!!!
