I have been collecting records for 25 years now. A few years ago I had the chance to meet one of the EMI / Pathé Marconi french sound engineers who worked for this company from the mid 60's till the mid 70's.
At that time, when they wanted to check the matrix, to put a record on the market, they first press a very few ( often less than 5 )  quantities of pre-test records with a side of the LP on side A and classical music on side B.
That's what you'll find on other records I'm selling this week.
This record is an exception...THE 2 DIFFERENT B SIDES ON THOSE 2 RECORDS FEATURE WHAT IT SEEMS TO ME THE SAME 16 MINUTES SONNY ROLLINS STUDIO JAM SESSION ( Unfortunatelly unknown to me as I'm not a Sonny Rollins expert ) ENDING WITH LAUGHS AND APPLAUSES.
EVEN IF THE B SIDES ARE STRIPED, THE RECORDS PLAY WITH NO SKIPS OR JUMPS BUT YOU'LL HEAR A POP EACH TIME THE NEEDLE MEET ONE OF THE STRIPES ( LAST PICTURE ).
This man told me that, sometimes, they could receive extra or different demos that they were free to press for private use. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S  A KNOWN OR AN UNKNOWN JAM SESSION BUT IT'S A REALLY GREAT 16 MINUTES MOMENT OF MUSIC !
I have a Skype account, I can put the record on and you will be abble to hear it through Skype ( surely not a great sound but that's the only way I can make you listen to it ).

Most of these " pre-test copies " were stored for a while then destroyed...this one survived. Surely the one and only.
The guy I bought them had the chance to recover one copy of the Sonny Rollins " Saxophone Colossus " and some others that you'll find on ebay this week ( PINK FLOYD, GENE VINCENT, JOHNNY RIVERS, RAY CHARLES and EDDIE SOUTH ).
I've never seen any copy like these at records stores, at collectors conventions neither on ebay. I even search on Google to see if there have been some others test press of that kind : nothing !...this may be the one and only that exists !!!

The 2 records have their original white paper protection sleeves. Each one has an handwrited reference of the side and ,on the bottom left corner, a small stuck  typewriter paper mentionning "Stereo", SONNY ROLLINS, then the tittles appearing on each record.


First record ( 7326 A 21 ) / label handwritten "Sonny Rollins" : St Thomas / You don't know what love is / Strode rode.

VG++, shows some real slight surface marks but still in great condition.

Second record ( 7326 B 21 ) / label handwritten "MIKE THE KNIFE" (!!!) : Moritat / Blue seven.

The 2 B sides are the exactly the same.
AS 10 B 21 and M 6 262 884 with a small "P" ( for Private ?, see last picture ) above that reference are appearing on both waxes.

AS EVERY RECORDS COLLECTOR HAS HIS OWN WAY OF CLEANING RECORDS, THESE RARE RECORDS HAVE NOT BE CLEANED. I HAVE JUST TOOK OFF THE DUST USING A SMOOTH VELEVET BRUSH.
