Description

Up for auction is a super nice copy of the Sonny Rollins album "Sonny Rollins Plus 4" originally released on Prestige Records (PRLP 7038) in 1956.  This is a deep groove, mono pressing, with RVG in the run-out.  Correct matching W. 50th St., NYC address on both labels and back cover.  The cover is in stunningly clean condition, looks like it was just taken out of the original shrink wrap.  No significant signs of wear or previous handling.  Front laminate retains its original high gloss shine, no ring wear or rubbing loss.  Corners are sharp, no bumps.  Seams are strong and intact, no splits.  No signs of age yellowing or discoloration which is very common for this bright white cover.  Back cover is equally beautiful, bone white, no writing, no ring wear, no tears.  Lettering on spine is perfect.  I would grade this cover Near Mint (NM), my highest grade. The vinyl itself is also in great shape.  No obvious signs of significant scratches or scuffs.  Looks like there are a few very faint hairlines that can be seen under certain light and angles, but they can't be felt with your finger, nor do they affect the play back.  Also a few spots that show former adhesion of the paper inner sleeve to the disc--again, doesn't affect play back.  Removing the disc from the inner sleeve may have caused some very superficial faint signs, but not much to speak of.  One small mark on Side B doesn't affect play back either.  I've play tested this record, and it generally sounds great, very little if any background noise.  Side One trail in has a couple clicks, but once the music starts, it plays clean.  Not an audiophile perfect copy, but it does produced clean playback, and full-bodied mono sound.  I'd grade the disc EX+ (Excellent Plus) visually, but it plays closer to Near Mint Minus (NM-). 100% guaranteed, no risk buying.  One of the nicer copies of this pressing that you're going to come across.
