VINYL is VG/VG+
Thick solid vinyl has plenty of original gloss with scattered small scuffs, a few light, mostly non-feelable, scratches and a few surface sleeve marks... for a visual VG. Because it is the kind of pressing it is, it plays much better than it looks, clear, bright and bold, with some mild but noticeable ticks at various places, most quite soft, none particularly loud - much closer to a VG+ Play Grade. Labels are extremely clean both sides.

COVER is VG+
Laminated front is beautiful EX+ with faintest shelf rub and one laminate crease at l.l. corner. Tiny spot of laminate peel at u.l. corner tip. Back is generally quite clean with light wear and some age toning. Seams and spine are completely intact with few small spots of light wear. No splits.

Labels have the 47 W. 63rd address and deep grooves on both sides.
"RVG" and "ear" are both stamped in the dead wax.

"Sonny Rollins, one of jazz's great tenors, is heard here at his peak with a pair of piano-less trios (either Wilbur Ware or Donald Bailey on bass and Elvin Jones or Pete La Roca on drums) stretching out on particularly creative versions of "Old Devil Moon", "Softly As in a Morning Sunrise", "Sonnymoon for Two" and "A Night in Tunisia", among others. Not only did Rollins have a very distinctive sound [here] but his use of time, his sly wit, and his boppish but unpredictable style were completely his own by 1957. Truly magical."
