Description

This is an ORIGINAL 1960 MONAURAL PRESSING OF THE 1960 U.S. LIBERTY RECORDS LP titled 'Sondi' from Thailand native exotica / lounge vocalist Sondi Sodsai.   It is U.S. Liberty Records catalog number LRP-3110, green labels, deep groove pressing.  Before coming to the U.S., Sondi Sodsai was an entertainer to the court of King Rama IX and Queen Sirkit of Thailand.  She has appeared on U.S. television on the Groucho Marx and Jack Paar Shows.   Sondi is accompanied on this LP by orchestra conducted by Hal Johnson.  This album was produced by exotica pioneer Martin Denny and is considered to be one of the most essential titles in the exotica / lounge genre.  Sondi sings in both English and Siamese - Tracks: Sondi, Rose Rose I Love You, Buddha Knows, China Nights (Shina No Yoru), Siamese Cat Song, Love Dance, Burma Train, Buffalo Song, Bali Hai, Love Is A Many Splendored Thing, Song Of India, Japanese Farewell Song (Sayonara).  Visual condition of record is a real nice high VG++ with all original gloss and just a very few very light surface and sleeve marks which are only visible under strong light, cannot be felt, and do not affect play.  Condition of cover is conservatively a low to mid VG+ with the following flaws: a 3" closed split in the right side of the top edge which does not reach the top right corner (I have carefully and neatly repaired this split by taping from the inside), a little brown discoloration along the top edge and spine, some small wrinkles, some general contact and ring wear, and some general wear along the edges and on the corners.  This LP would be a choice addition to any exotica / lounge / bachelor pad record collection! Winning bidder pays $3.00 media mail postage or actual priority mail postage within the U.S. I WILL SHIP WORLDWIDE - Uninsured first class international airmail postage to the UK or anyplace in Europe is $13.50 - Please e-mail me for postage rates to other areas outside the U.S. WINNING BIDDER PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH - IT PROBABLY WILL NOT GET HERE! I will give an immediate refund (less shipping) upon return of the LP if winning bidder is dissatisfied for any reason. Good luck!
