State Of Alert (aka S.O.A.) was a hardcore punk band formed in 1980 in Washington DC by vocalist Henry Garfield (aka Henry Rollins) along with Wendel Blow (bass), Michael Hampton (guitar), and Simon Jacobson (drums), the latter 3 being former members of a local band called The Extorts (Extorts vocalist Lyle Preslar went on to join Minor Threat). The band played a handful of local shows and put out a 7" EP before disbanding in 1981 when Henry left to join Black Flag.

"This is Henry Rollin's first band when he was name Henry Garfield and worked as a ice cream scooper at the Georgetown Haagen Dazs... >>> PRETENTIOUS RECORD COLLECTORS READ THIS: The copy is a anomaly - it has the green vinyl from the first pressing, but the cover (with Black Flag bars on Henry's arm) is from the second pressing from the same year... My best guess is the green vinyl was overstock from the first pressing that was packaged in the second pressing cover from 1981... No lyric sheet... This was purchased by me - new - from Y&T Records in Rockville, MD in early 1982..."

Welcome to the Skeleton Closet!
I was a rabid music collector for 30+ years - Punk and Hardcore in the early-Eighties, Death Metal and Grunge in the late-Eighties, Industrial and Experimental in the early-Nineties, and Goa Trance and Psytrance in the late-Nineties and early-2000s…
I also worked at a record company for 13 years, toured North America with numerous international acts, DJed internationally, produced festivals, and had a clothing importing company. So in this time, I’ve accumulated a lot of interesting and limited items...
Family life and other life changes have made me decide to unload my collection. For the majority of the items, I have been the original owner of the item. I try to be accurate on my description and condition of the items. I have a lot to sell, so check back often -- I’ll try to keep the new listings coming weekly...
