Oh My God... if you collect northern soul, bahamian / reggae soul then you are in for the treat of a lifetime. This 45rpm was discovered inside an Lp here in Miami Florida where I reside and where Smokey 007 resided back in the early 70s and wrote and arranged some of his great songs. His real name was Leroy McKenzie-and to many---he was one of the greatest singers ever to come from the Caribbean.
He passed away in 2004 but his legacy lives on and is growing. He had several very big sellers in his native Bahamas in a variety of styles--including northern soul and it was his work in the early 70s in Miami that really showed his class. The one you are bidding on is a mystery. No doubt Smokey recorded it in a private studio in Miami , put his own name " Smokey007 Records" to the label, wrote the song " What'll I Do Without You" ( part 1 &2) and partly arranged it himself. I have a small childrens record player but the needle needs replacement but I was able to gingerly play both sides and I almost flipped!! Sweet Northern Soul at its finest! And I spent days trying to find more info on this 45 ( on google, all the record sites, all the reggae specialist sites) but to no avail. No one ever heard of it and didn't even know it existed.. Most likely, never received any airplay. The song " What'll I Do Without You" ( part 1 &2) is a great northern soul tune written by Smokey007 and a true undiscovered gem. So I truly believe this is an undiscovered tour de force of northern soul . The condition is VG ( visually graded) with some light scratches but nothing deep or even feelable. And A L" in black letters writeen on one side. Should play well. If anyone familiar with this artist or 45 would email me , I will add it to my description.
