This relatively rare Japanese first press plays with stunning quality on both sides.  It is of course only a mini-album with six tracks but they all plays with sublime clarity, depth and warmth with no intrusion at all.  Zero Intrusion not even a solitary dust tick!  The clarity is sensational!  All tracks are in Mono apart from 'Doin' Alright' and  when you consider it's not exactly an official pressing the sonic quality is superb.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that Roger did give it his approval once he had listened to it, so it's semi-official!  All tracks are strong but in my opinion 'Earth' is worth the price alone, it's a superb track!  The vinyl is also in immaculate condition and has clearly hardly ever been played.
The cover is very clean overall with just one small split on the top edge and the lyric insert is perfect.
This is the first pressing of this album as it has the Y1,800 price on the Obi

Visual description
The vinyl is in pristine condition with an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen and no marks or scratches.  Even looking under a bright light I cannot find any hairlines, it really is in lovely condition.  It's worth remembering this release is now 43 years old!  The Mercury labels are also close to perfect with only one faint spindle trace on each.
Play Grading
The very different rendition of 'Doin' Alright' plays with stunning clarity from the word go.  The acoustic intro is perfect and the first verse has no intrusion either.  I'm not entirely it's Staffell or Taylor on that first vocal?!  Sure sound like Roger to me but who knows!  From then on the main vocal is definitely Staffell and it continues to play with genuine quality.  From start to finish there is no background and the high powered sections are so strong and deep.  If you are wondering about the sonic quality rest assured the 'sound' is very impressive.  This is easily a Mint start to this mini-album.
'Blag' also plays with superb audio through every section.  You can certainly see the beginnings of Queen on this album and this track definitely has a strong Brighton Rock feel to it and especially on Brian's solo towards the end!  There is no background here not even a dust tick and Mint is again deserved.
'April Lady' ends S1 with...no interference.  You can tell this album has hardly ever been played before such is the clarity of sound.  It sounds like Brian on lead vocal with Roger's unmistakeable tones on background vocal.  Exceptional audio once more and Mint in every way.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'Polar Bear' plays perfectly and the first verse and chorus have no intrusion either.  It proceeds in the same way and again the clarity and depth of the audio are the stand out features.  The musicianship is very strong also and Staffell's voice isn't half bad!  A very strong track actually and you can see why Smile were quite highly regarded.  Mint
'Earth' is an even better track and plays with stunning quality through every section.  It has a very strong melody and it would not have been out of place on Queen's first album, kind of in 'Mad The Swine' territory.  Although it was written by Staffell so perhaps not!  In my opinion it's the best track on the album and the sonic quality is phenomenal.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static this is audio of the highest calibre considering it's not exactly an official pressing.  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is stunning and again a great musical backing.  Mint
'Step On Me' plays to the same standard with zero intrusion.  Once again I cannot fault the clarity and definition of the audio and Mint is again fair.  Another strong track that deserves to be on vinyl!
The Cover, Obi & Lyric Insert
The cover is in excellent condition overall but does have one small split on the top edge although it is a clean one.  Aside from one small corner crease top in the top left corner it has no other wear - the other edges and spine are in superb shape and the opening edge looks untouched.  Both the front and back cover are unmarked.  A very clean cover apart from one small area of wear.
The accompanying Obi is in superb condition with no marks, rips or tears and the lyric insert is also 'as new' with no wear.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
