Another from my personal collection! This original Small Faces Debut album is rarely ever seen in this awesome condition! They'r 1st ever' 42 years old!!! The vinyl has been stored seperated from the cover and sleeve in a case for over 30 years! Visually this early original looks and certainly sounds barely ever played!!! Try to find better!!!!!

Small Faces were an English rock group from East London, heavily influenced by American rhythm and blues!!. The group was founded in 1965 by members Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, and Jimmy Winston (replaced by Ian McLagan). They are also sometimes referred to as The Small Faces!!!.

They are best remembered as possibly one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s!!, with hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday", "All or Nothing", Tin Soldier and their number one concept album Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake. They later evolved into one of the UK's most successful psychedelic acts before disbanding in 1969. After the Small Faces disbanded, three of the members were joined by Ronnie Wood (guitar) and Rod Stewart (lead vocals), both from The Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed the Faces!!!.

They are also widely acknowledged as being one of the biggest original influences on the Britpop movement of the 1990s!!!.

Despite the fact they were together just four years, the Small Faces' music output from the mid to late sixties remains among the most acclaimed British mod and psychedelic music of that era. In 1996, they were belatedly awarded the Ivor Novello Outstanding Contribution to British Music "Lifetime Achievement" award!!!

The band's early song set included R&B/soul classics such as "Jump Back", James Brown's "Please Please Please", Smokey Robinson's "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" and Ben E. King's "Stand by Me". The band also performed two Marriott/Lane original compositions, a fast and loud "Come on Children" and the "speed enhanced" song "E too D", in which Marriott would display his considerable vocal abilities in the style of his heroes and role models, Otis Redding and Bobby Bland. "E too D", which appears on their first album, Small Faces, is named after the guitar chord structure. On US compilation albums the track is titled "Running Wild"!!!.

They were kicked out of their first out-of-town gig, a tough working men's club in Sheffield, after only three songs. The crowd at that concert was mainly made up of Teddy boys and hard-drinking workers. Despondent, they literally walked into the mod-oriented Mojo Club nearby (then owned by a young Peter Stringfellow) and offered to perform for free. They played a set that left the local mods wanting more and started a strong buzz. During a crucial residency at Leicester Square's Cavern Club, they were strongly supported by Sonny & Cher, who were living in London at the time and had first seen them perform in Sheffield!!!!.

After several months of breakup rumours in the British press, Marriott officially quit the band at the beginning of 1969, walking off stage during a live New Year's Eve gig. Citing frustration at their failure to break out of their pop image and their inability to reproduce the more sophisticated material properly on stage, Steve was already looking ahead to a new band, Humble Pie, with Peter Frampton.!!!!

The vinyl

This is the original thick heavy and chunky type of vinyl only found like this on the earliest press! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable!!!

On initial inspection, this vinyl has retained its original sheen from new and truly looks awesome, almost like new in my opinion!,, for 42 years old quite unbeleivable!!! I can barely see a blemish on the playing surface!! If looked at under strong light could possibly be seen sleeve removal only. To be honest it is hard for me to even see a blemish! Please note there are no needle scratches or any audio sounding marks at all that i can see or hear!!Unbeleivable to find like this on a 43 year old vinyl! Superbe!

The Audio

I have played this vinyl track for track at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio sounds absolutely stunning throughout,,, as new in my opinion!! Cristal clear and vibrant on all frequencies! (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps Very rare to find like this!!! You will find it hard to find better! Points to note! Amaizinglty i heard non of the usual background or surface noise, that is common on a vinyl of this age even between tracks it is lovely and quiet!!!!Stunnining top! Top! audio!! NEAR PERFECT ON MY SYSTEM! I would class myself as highly critical, Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!Audio graded as good as it gets in my opinion! Stunning Near mint mono audio without interfearance!!

Please note! I always addd this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a 42 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 42 year old system!!! TO BE HONEST I NEVER HEARD ANY THING ABSOLUTELY AWESOME AUDIO!!!

This vinyl has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover and sleeve and has been laying dormant for over 40 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static. A constant clean before each play is highly recomended! This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality! I must emphisise that in my opinion this played absolutely perfect on my system as good as it gets!!!

The labels

Feature the original UNBOXED DECCA LABELS WITH THE FAMILIER GROOVE! (ONLY 1ST PRESS) (No) nasty names or marks! Just very minimal spidering can be seen angled to the light. In my opinion this looks barely played for 42years old. Little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round! (see photos)

The Record Sleeve

This is the original Decca Sleeve rarely seen complete! Rare original (WITHOUT staining fading splits or tares) Very rare to find!! very light creasing only rare original, The vinyl is stored seperately from the sleeve and cover!!

The Cover

This is the earliest LAMINATED FRONT Printed by James Upton Ltd! In awesome condition! Super glossy laminate with really minimal storageware or creases to mention. No splits or tares this is strong and straight as it should be! The rear is exceptionally clean for its age ! This is a rare original! Rare to find oin this conditon!!Must be at least Ex plus in my opinion!!!
