Italian massive Underwater Funk Library OST grail by composer Stefano Liberati, realized for the film-documentary directed by Bruno Vailati from 1978. Essential, superb cult Score and for sure one of the best in the vintage Underwater music field. Original, desirable and sought-after 1st pressing on the cult CAM label, part of a successful triptyque of full-length movies directed by B.Vailati: UOMINI E SQUALI aka "SHARK AND MEN" (1976) with music by bassist Daniele Patucchi, and CARI MOSTRI DEL MARE (1977) by Carlo Savina. The whole Soundtrack is extraordinarily good, with loads of breezy Funk, dope Fender Rhodes, Funky Wah-Wah guitars, Jazz-Funk and Underwater Lounge music. Dazzling, intoxicating music driving listeners into a pulsating and endlessly moving abyss.
The music is entirely credited to Stefano Liberati but it was actually composed and directed by the great Cicci Santucci, legendary Italian trumpeter and composer, who’s performing here along with his inseparable friend Enzo Scoppa, and an orchestra composed of the greatest session men of time. A killer blend of strings, brass, various percussion sweeps and amazing cinematic waves in a backwater of sublime groove. Totally addictive record, rising to the challenge of marrying Funk, Swing and Jazz, with shades of Riz Ortolani's Cannibal Holocaust themes in certain passages. Killer Jazz-Funk beats with some insane proto-Hip Hop breaks / moody Lounge and Underwater themes / cool exotic set, with Marimba Lounge cues / sleazy Poliziesco-styled funky guitars / sinister aquatic vibes.
