SLY & THE FAMILY STONE~STAND~RARE ORIG '69 EPIC LP~YELLOW Lbl “ SEX MACHINE”.
THIS THE ICONIC SFS ALBUM SIMPLY ENTITLED:
STAND . . .
EPIC ( BN 26456) STEREO
Matrix # CSB139307
USA/1969
FIRST U.S. PRESSING ( for the newb, the orange Epic level is the later second pressing)
AND ARGUABLY NEAR MINT STATE — how this album went through 1969 and early ‘70s Unscathed is beyond me! — this LP is typically pretty worn out -This is by far the best copy I have come across in 30-years- that said, don’t pass this Top Shelf copy up!
Controversial ??? Hell yeah!! sly was at his crazy best social justice social consciousness sheriffs badge snging here in 1969 - the same year as crazy Charlie Manson and followers effectively ended “ hippy-flower power’ on that you can imagine!
Iconic track 1 SIDE 1 “ STAND” then tracks to the controversial track 2:
“ Don’T Call Me Nigger, WHITEY!” Then to “ I Want to Take You Higher”.....crashing down next with “ SOMEBODY'S WATCHING YOU” to “ Sing. Simple Song”..... mind you, thats just SIDE 1!!
Vinyl: EX+ ( some might argue near mint minus, just fantastic original condition the close up photos just hint at; maybe one - two imperceptible spindle marks?? - comes in original Epic sleeve.
Cover: VG+ ( Clean!!! No writing or doodles or wet-ring stains from that careless beer.. Nada!..typical edge shelf wear only! ** does have a small bb hole - hard to see rt top corner
