SLS 751 (ASD 274-277) white/gold–MOZART: MARRIAGE OF FIGARO–GUI/GLYNDEBOURNE

HMV stereo recording on white/gold labels.   Boxed set of 4-LPs (7-sides) catalogue number SLS 751    (ASD 274-277).  Mozart’s opera The Marriage of Figaro.  Vittorio Gui conducting the Glyndebourne Festival Orchestra and Chorus with soloists Sena Jurinac, Sesto Bruscatini, Graziella Scuti, Franco Calabrese and Ian Wallace.

There are four records to this set with seven playing sides. Record one has a blank reverse. all the records are in fantastic condition with a lovely shine and no visible marks when checked under a halogen lamp. All the labels are unmarked with no spindle marks.

All four records are on the very earliest white/gold labels and earliest matrix numbers:

The box does have wear to the cloth on the corners and edges, especially the opening edge. There are no splits or tears. Please see the photographs. Inside the box the inner sleeves are all original and in nice clean condition. There is the original booklet that has no writing on it. There is also two sheets of the original tracing paper and two original cardboard packers. 

The records have all been carefully played and listened to. The sound quality is superb with no clicks, ticks or anything else except the inevitable odd dust pop.

Overall a wonderful example of this rare recording that has clearly hardly been played at all, in fact I may be the first person to have listened to it as there is no sign that they have been played before.

I fully play all the 'Buy It Now' records listed in my shop as I do not understand how anyone can accurately describe a record without doing so. Many mint looking records do in fact have problems and can sound awful. Conversely some early records with marks can play superb because of the deeper grooves.

Grading:
Mint means factory sealed and therefore unplayed.

Near mint record means there are no visible signs that the record(s) have been played and no visible marks at all on the record. The record will have been fully play checked and there will be no audible faults.

Excellent means there are one or more light marks that do not affect the sound quality. The record will be fully play checked and the marks will be described.

Sleeves are carefully described and photographed.
