FANTASTIC COMPLETE 2-LP SET, 1968 ORIGINAL!
1968 Original 360 Columbia Sound
~ West Coast Psych Classic with SKIP SPENCE ~
MINT CLEAN 50+ YEARS AGO..|/\|...............................................|/\|..
MOBY GRAPE
"WOW and Grape JAM"
MOBY GRAPE ....WOW and JAM
MINTY CLEAN = DOUBLE LP's = VINYL !
This IS the original (hardly EVER seen) complete first '68 printing that was issued as a TWO Record set, containing both the "WOW" LP together with "Grape Jam" ...
SCARCE Original 1968 first pressing on the highly collected 360 Sound Columbia in thick gatefold cover. Probably SKIP SPENCE's finest performance, containing his legendary "Motorcycle Irene" -- potentially the best track he ever wrote and recorded ....
Moby Grape's 1968 rock of ages "WOW" featured Don Stevenson (drums) and Jerry Miller (guitarist No. 1) backing monster voice/songwriter Bob Mosley (bass) and Loretta Young's son of a Byrds disciple Peter Lewis (guitar No. 2), who all bowed to the group's Syd Barrett/Roky Erickson type guru, Alexander "Skip" Spence.
"Wow" opener "The Place and the Time" starts out quite right from the get-go, and "Murder in My Heart for the Judge" grabs ahold as a song once heard never forgotten. Mosley's gorgeous "Bitter Wind," Miller/Stevenson's stomping "Can't Be So Bad," and Lewis' gentle "He" swaddle Skip Spence's driving open throttle classic, "Motorcycle Irene" ... "Skippy got messed up right off the bat [in NYC]," states guitarist Jerry Miller. "He was never the same again. It wasn't the same for any of us."
Moby Grape were one of the Acid Rock bands from the 60s San Francisco scene. Skip Spence originally had been the drummer on the first Jefferson Airplane record. But his preferred instrument was always the guitar, and he formed Moby Grape delivering his best... every drop of Moby Grape "WOW" is precious...
