Description

Skip James, "Skip James Today!" LP (Vanguard VSD-79219) Original 1966 issue.
This record has a bit of a split personality. Both sides appear to be near flawless visually, And side one sounds very good/very good+ all the way through. Side two has an audible, though not overpowering, background noise throughout, especially in the more quiet passages. No pops or skips, however. Perhaps a good cleaning would help.
The cover has wear as shown. The original inner sleeve is split along the bottom, but otherwise intact.

As quiet as it was kept then, Skip James might have made the best music of anyone who resurfaced during the mid-'60s "rediscovery" era for Mississippi country blues types. Certainly, there weren't many albums made during that time as good as this one; wonderful vocals, superb guitar and a couple of tunes with tasty piano make this essential.
