Description
Here we offer an ORIGINAL copy of this renown Indian garage/psych album! These records are so rare that even many seasoned dealers and collectors in India do not know/aware of their existance. This is the more psychedelic of the two Simla Beat LPs but it also has its raw garage edge like the first one. For some time, there was talk that these bands could/should have been obscure American bands since the music does not contain much influences of authentic Indian music but no sir, I can assure you: all the bands are of Indian origin and these contests happened at the time!
Condition: The cover is in strong VG shape. Like many other LP releases of its time in India, this record also has a thick carton cover. These are especially vulnerable to seam splits in India's climate but we are happy to say there are no seam splits on the cover of this copy. Three centimeters right side of the upper seam (that is, 3 cm. left from the side where you take the record out), there seems to be a split "developing" but it is not split. Spine is perfect. A former owner wrote a couple of names in very light ink somewhere on the upper part of front cover. No writings or tears on the back cover but there are some signs of a liquid spill on back cover.
The disc visually is a solid VG but you need details: This is one of the best VG's I've 'heard' from India lately. Grooves are healthy and the sound of the whole disc is lovely. Before the 70s oil crisis, especially before 1974, the Indian HMV used to press these LP's on quality thick vinyl -- this is one of which. Luckily the previous owner(s) listened this with good needles because the surface noise is at its possible minimum. There is surface noise (almost impossible not to have one on Indian vinyl) but it's at its best for a VG Indian disc. However there also are thin hairlines here and there. There's one 1 cm scratch on the beginning of side one. It ticks audibly for just 6-7 spins, then fades to tick lightly. I find no need to take long samples from the LP since you most probably know about the album and its music but I took samples from this part I have mentioned and a few other parts (like a couple of between-song moments) so you can hear the quality for yourself.
