This listing is for a brand new/sealed copy of SONGS FOR PIERRE CHUVIN by THE MOUNTAIN GOATS on limited edition Pink Swirl vinyl. John Darnielle was inspired to create this album at the beginning of the pandemic, after the initial recording plans for his full band were derailed and he was motivated to put something together to generate income for the other members and crew who were temporarily out of work. Taking it back to his roots, this album was recorded with the use of an old Panasonic rx-ft500 turned on its side and a Marantz PMD222 cassette recorder. The result is a beautiful raw and lo-fi effort that captures the passion and spontanaity of these tracks in the moment, when they were fresh.
This particular copy was purchased through Newbury Comics, who made a number of hand-signed copies available through their website. Adding to the intimate, personal feeling of the album itself is the fact that Darnielle wrote something unique on each one of these LPs, along with his autograph. As you can see in the provided images, this copy reads: "On The 1" on the right side with his autograph on the left.
