SIGNED Allan Sherman - My Son, the Celebrity (Vinyl LP Promo)
Allan Sherman was an American comedy writer and television producer who became famous as a song parodist in the early 1960s. His first album, My Son, the Folk Singer (1962), became the fastest-selling record album up to that time. His biggest hit single was "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh", a comic novelty in which a boy describes his summer camp experiences to the tune of Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours. During his brief heyday, Sherman's parodies were so popular that he had at least one contemporary imitator: My Son the Copycat was an album of song parodies performed by Stanley Ralph Ross, co-written by Ross and Bob Arbogast. Lest there be any doubt of whom Ross was copying, his album's cover bears a crossed-out photo of Sherman. This album, Sherman's second, reached #1 on the Billboard charts in 1963.
This album is inscribed and signed on the cover by "Allan Sherman". I claim no expertise in authentication of signatures. However, I did research similar signatures online and based on what I found the signature appears genuine to me. Of course, you will have to make your own decision.
Also of interest is that this is a white-label "Not For Sale" copy of this album, originally distributed by Warner Brothers to radio stations to promote sales. Very rare to see a promo copy of this record, even rarer to have it signed!
Shipping to the winning bidder will be via standard Media Mail to domestic addresses. Priority Mail is also available at additional cost.
