High Gloss Vinyl is exceptionally clean both sides - tiny faint rub at edge of side 1 only, that is 100% inaudible. Side 2 is Pristine. Labels are super clean both sides.

Still in the original shrink wrap (portion of back side of shrink missing); immaculate except for lightly bumped l.r. corner. NO creases, wear, soil or marks. No splits.

*Very flat cover, with solid, evenly black color - picking up background reflections and shadows in photos.
...my lighting is pretty hopeless for any cover in shrink wrap.

Purchased and signed at 1983 San Jose CA concert *since LP cover is black, Holdsworth was signing labels / inner sleeves at the after-concert reception, meet/greet.

*also notation added by Holdsworth on inner sleeve re. his recent recordings to find, with Gordon Beck and John Stevens: French only album "The Things You See" ...also did "Conversation Piece" and "Sunbird" with these same players during that period - all 3 being rare import only albums.

This 1st I.O.U. LP featured Gary Husband on drums, though by the 1983 tour (same year as "ROAD GAMES") Wackerman had replaced Husband. Both are considered among the all-time very top drummers in Jazz/Rock.

Signed INNER SLEEVE is still Super-Clean, with no splits or creases.
Vinyl kept in additional anti-static inner.

RARE also to find this cover so clean (check any photos of open, used copies) as most originals suffered heavy wear due to solid black ink on especially smooth cover stock.
The SHRINK WRAP and a lifetime kept inside additional poly outer sleeve has kept this one from that fate.

After recording with a number of bands throughout the 1970's (Soft Machine, Gong, Bruford, Tempest, Tony Williams Lifetime, etc.), Allan Holdsworth's first solo album was released – against his will – as 1976's Velvet Darkness.
I.O.U., the 1st solo album where he had full artistic control, was issued in 1982.

ALLAN HOLDSWORTH was inducted into Guitar Player Magazine's hall of fame and was a five-time winner of the magazine's readers' poll. He was also featured in Musician Magazine's 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

I do NOT ever want to exclude or deny all bidders from any particular country, even though a few specific countries are responsible for almost all spurious "not received" or "not as described" claims over the years. This evolves... for instance in France, buyers from Ile de France seem, more and more, to be very prone to make a false claim. (one of my earliest, very best customers was from Ile de France but moved to Belgium some years back) ...so even there, I hate to exclude ALL buyers from there; however I cannot possibly afford to be scammed due to the unlucky result of a winning bidder being a bad actor. Also it seems to be the fun game recently for some in Germany, Spain and Italy to buy far more than the collector can afford and make false claims on many of them. Again I will need to know you can be trusted. Many, many great buyers in all those countries, but plenty of trouble comes from them as well. Brazil ha terrible post/mail problems. Italy has long Customs hold times. In NONE of those cases is it my fault and I will not lose out because of other countries' problems beyond my control. Occasional problems from China and Russia -I reserve the right to cancel a sale or bids from any buyer, case-by-case if I note problematic behavior or red flags.

Having said that, I will have no need whatsoever to take action for any buyers with solid, good reputations and feedback. I sell regularly to all those places (though Ile de France bidders will definitely need to contact me FIRST before bidding). I wish there was no need for this caution, but I must and I do protect myself. If you are honest, responsible and genuine, we will never have a problem and may bid buy with no worries.
