**  ** Ultra rare and seldomly seen on eBay  **  **

The only release from this totally unknown and obscure trio from north-central Quebec (Shawinigan area), and aptly named  Shawi....a native Algonquin Indian word meaning portage, or passage to new dimensions.        All original compositions from the duo of Jean Gignac (vocals, piano, guitar, harmonica, synthesizer)  and Jean Cournoyer (vocals, acoustic & electric guitar), with additional support from Marcel Lord (percussion, bongos, tabla).

Privately recorded in 1980 in total anonymity, with pressings numbering only in the hundreds, and with little distribution from the miniscule label Intervalle.......the LP immediately fell into obscurity (with little chance of ever seeing a CD reissue).

Yet, this is extraordinarily-accomplished musicianship with superb CS&N-like vocal harmonies,  great progressive folk-rock vibes of groups like Harmonium,  strong folk-psych loner-downer lyrics (in French) and dreamy overtones that remind one of a certain Roger Rodier  (there's also couple of outstanding all-instrumental numbers.....listen to "Douceur de Vivre", below).

Why these guys only managed to record one long play is a mystery.

** This may well be the best unknown & undiscovered jewel from the deep archives of Quebec obscurities **
