From 1973, out of California comes Shaun Harris with his solo LP on Capitol ST11168. Extremely rare album containing ten songs. It must have been a tax loss for Capitol Records, as this is only the second one I've seen in over 34 years! Shaun Harris had previously been a member of the California psych group The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. On this album he tries for an early 70's pop angle, however, his years of being a member of the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band cannot prepare him for popdom! It is easy to initially dismiss this album as a love song album, but if you listen tot he lyrics, you'll hear something quite different! He sings about suicide, hating himself,and wishing he was dead! Backing on one of the songs is by Bruce Johnston, who was a member of The Beach Boys.Of course, the album includes the usual West Coast session people: Ben Benay, Hal Blaine, Jim Gordon, Joe Osborn, Carol Kaye, Larry Knechtel and others. This must have truly been a very unusual session! On a few of the cuts he is joined by his brother Dan Harris who also had been a member of The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band! Highy recommended album, though it is seldom seen! Was sealed, though the inferior Capitol shrinkwrap fell off between the time I bought the record and an hour later when I got it home!

FLAWS: Tiny bend mark upper seam(factory).
