This is probably the rarest record I have ever sold on eBay (and also the hardest to part with). You are bidding on a fully signed copy of the 'God Save The Queen'; the iconic single by The Sex Pistols. This is arguably the most defining single in the history of Punk Rock. A real piece of musical history. All signatures were obtained by a close friend who followed the band during the U.S. tour. This was signed at the beginning of Jan 1978 in Atlanta (full details will be given to the winner). It is one of the real highlights of a massive Pistols collection I will be auctioning off over the coming months here on eBay, so please bookmark my pages. I have been a Pistols fan since day 1 and have accumulated this collection over a 30 year period using my knowledge to select only the rarest genuine items from every corner of the UK.  Parting with my collection is one of the hardest things I'm ever going to do so bid high!

Now onto the item in question. This has long been the flagship of the collection. Although it's the actual autographs that are of interest here, I will quickly go over the condition of the record. It is in decent shape for its age (remember this went to America from the UK, survived one (and probably more) Sex Pistols gigs and made it back again in one piece!). It is the original UK 1st pressing and and whilst not mint it easily grades as Excellent/Excellent (sleeve/disc). The signed picture sleeve is what we are really interested in and I'm pleased to report that it is in superb condition. All signatures are crystal clear with only very limited fading over time (there is some slight fading  to the writing but it is hardly noticeable). What makes this even rarer than the usual Pistols signatures (although, believe me, finding genuine Pistols autographs is rare) is that Sid really went to town on it. Firstly he wrote what looks like 'The queen is sh*t see Sid x' in the top right hand corner. He also drew what looks like a swastika on her forehead and two dots for eyes (apologies to any Royalists out there). According to the person who had this signed (whose details I will be giving to the winner), it was a very lucid and hyped-up Sid who did the artwork, almost immediately after he came off stage and not any other members of the band. Johnny Rotten has signed on the left hand side and Paul Cook and Steve Jones have signed at the top and bottom respectively. I have never seen another signed copy that looks as this one, and I have seen many, many fakes in my time - or which this is not. I have been a massive Pistols fan since the band first broke, so believe me - I know what I am talking about. Although the sleeve has no seam splitting etc,  it is not in Nr Mint condition (more like Ex with some feathering to the opening edge). This just adds to the authenticity of the piece in my eyes,  please remember that this record has been through a lot - it is the real deal and was (man) handled by a whole band that were not known for their cleanliness or gentleness at an impromptu post show moment so of course it will not be mint (unlike all these pristine forgeries you often see - it makes you wonder how these so called 'autographed records' actually survived the rough and tumble of a Sex Pistols gig without a mark on them prior to getting signed...) All the signatures are signed boldly in a thick black pen (again, you must remember that biro and black liner pens were the most easily accessible type of pen in the 1970's - those autographs you see in pretty glittery silver and gold markers are all fakes! - silver an gold markers were no even around at this time!!!) Like I said, it really bothers me when I see fake Sex Pistols autographs, I bet half the forgers were not even born when the band were tearing up stages across the UK & States!! It is easy to spot fake Sex Pistols autographs when you know what you are looking for, if you are not sure of anything at all, please email me and I will be happy to help. This is most definitely not a fake, and as I also mentioned above, the winner will get all the details of provenance detailing when, where and for whom (somebody very close to the band) this was signed. You probably won't want to play this record (although it plays perfectly), and will probably want to frame it - trust me when I say it will look absolutely amazing.
