A rare 1988 BBC Transcription Service Beatles 2 LP set titled “Profile Sergeant Pepper: A Splended Time Was Guaranteed For All” featuring a 3 sided tribute to the Beatles most celebrated album. In addition to the obligatory medley of tracks from ‘Sgt. Peppers’ this set includes interviews with Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr, as well as extensive commentery by non-group members involved in the making of the album, including producer George Martin, engineer Geoff Emerick, album cover artist Peter Blake, and BBC DJ Kenny Everett. Also included is McCartney’s BBC interview and introduction of ‘Sgt. Peppers’ when it was played for the first time, his comments on creating the groundbreaking album cover, and Lennon talking about the follow up ‘White Album.’ . Obviously the interviews were actually conducted much earlier but they appeared on vinyl pressing in 1988 (probably for the first time?). A must have for The Beatles completists. Music included was not recorded at the BBC or live recordings. The duration is 59'20" over 3 sides. Fourth side has a rather wonderful BBC etching and blank white label. Comes with cue sheets.
