Description
Up for auction is a very rare 33-1/3 RPM LP recording "Address by Senator John F. Kennedy [at the] Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner Oct. 22, 1959". The Alfred E. Smith dinner is a most important political event in New York, commonly pitting the two presidential contenders against each other in what is intended to be an evening of comic jabs. Records of Kennedy political speeches as Senator are rare. This record was not available to the public.
It was mailed to the Oklahoma Democratic Headquarters on November 13, 1959, as the mailing date on the mailer shows. It was produced by Empire Broadcasting Corp. The record is one sided; the reverse is blank. This item had been collected by a Democratic National Party leader in the 1960's and was purchased at his estate auction.
CONDITION: The record is in very good in its original sleeve. There is “spotting” and what looks like sleeve wear from being in storage for over 40 years. (see photo)However, the record should play just fine. The mailer has tears and shows wear.
TERMS: USA bidders only please. Buyer pays $2.50 for USPS Media Mail shipping, or $5.95 for USPS Priority Mail shipping. As always, your satisfaction is my highest priority. Thanks for looking!
