PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. CONTAINS THE VERY RARE "GOGGLES" customized sticker on outside of the cellophane ... most stickers did not survive as everyone who bought the record had to tear off the outer cellophane to get the record out of the custom cut gatefold cover ...the sticker alone remains extremely hard to find...here it is COMPLETE as first issued!
Always been hard to find 1970 first pressing in gatefold "round" custom designed cover that opens up into a large pair of GOGGLES ...this was a crew of young hipsters creating sunny-sound pop grooves ... and here's the story::::
The Goggles were a group consisting of Jessica Harper (vocals), Rod McBrien (lead vocal-bass), Mark Lockhart (drums), and David Spinoza (guitar-vocal), The group released this album which was actually the soundtrack and more to the 1970 NBC television presentation “”. Spinoza, of course, would go on to an illustrious career working with Beatles Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Ringo Starr, and a long association with James Taylor. He also dated Yoko Ono during Lennon’s “Lost Weekend” period when Lennon was involved with Mae Pang. THE GOGGLES were a groovy-sunshine sound poprocking, soft folk & popsike pop psych crew manufactured as an in-studio band, and recorded the soundtrack to the 1970 NBC TV show "Looking Through Super Plastic Elastic Goggles At Color." The totally wiggy gatefold cover came in a round sleeve, so it unfolded to actually BECOME a large pair of goggles. This, of course, meant that there could be no inner sleeve for the actual record, so it's tough to find these in decent shape. Musically, this is very nice hippie flower power/sunshine pop perfections peaking on the beautiful infectious "Jennifer Rain." And yes, vocalist Jessica Harper is INDEED the SAME Jessica Harper we know from movies like Suspiria, Phantom of the Paradise , etc... Here are some fun facts on the band members: Rod McBrien - Bass, Lead VocalBorn Amityville, Long Island NY June 20, 1948, attended Amithyville High School & Hofstra College in NY - originally a recording engineer for such performers as The Jaggerz, Jimi Hendrix, The Hollies & many others. Rod’s hobbies are tennis, football & baseball. His favorite performers are The Googles. He’s a nice guy. David Spinozza - Guitar, Vocal
Born in Port Chester, NY August 9, 1949, attended Mamaroneck High School in NY. Dave’s amazing creativity has made him the leading studio guitarist in New York. He was chosen by Paul McCartney to be the featured guitarist on his latest lp. Dave’s hobbies are water skiing and diving and his favorite performers are The Band & Stevie Wonder. Born Chicago, Illinois October 3, 1949, attended North Shore County day School, Winnetka, Illinois & Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville NY. Before joining The Goggles, she appeared in the Broadway production of ‘Hair’ for one year. Jessica’s favorite hobby is “peace”. Rod & Dave like her. Mark Lockhart - Drums
Born in New York City October 21, 1949, attended Christ The King High School in NYC and is presently attending Queens College.
