Description

"Napoleon wore a black hat...et lots of chicken...conquered half the world--"
...so begins this trippy beautiful album by the guy behind the Soft Boys, the band that brought deeply accomplished surrealism and literacy to punk rock...and came out the other side playing brilliant ringing acoustic...surrealism and literacy! and a weirdly responsibile heart.
The lovely guitar and the freewheeling voice means this record could easily be that of a first-rate singer-songwriter, if you don't know English. The lyrics are what trail it into the dark. Did you ever hear John Cale's "Paris 1919"? Kind of the same affect: sheer loveliness in the service of the weirdest ambitious perverse poetry. Including one song on here that deconstructs the beloved's body, "Agony of Pleasure," afflicting what could be a good 15th-century love lyric with thoughts that travel like bees...desire that resembles bees...that IS a bee...a canful of bees.
New sealed copy of the original limited first pressing of this (as you can see from the above) indescribable album.
Oh, I forgot to mention--this is something of a mystery grab bag--apparently "some copies" of this limited pressing were done on transparent vinyl...and "some copies" contain a poster...and I have no way of knowing if this is one of those "some" because it's sealed! So...good luck contestants...let me know what happens.

Free shipping and insurance.
