I'M SELLING PART OF MY CLAPTON'S COLLECTION STARTED IN 1972
this SEALED dlp come with the original 1894 James Atkinson book that inspired Eric to wrote the Layla masterpiece. The book is also signed by Charlotte Atkinson.
In 1966, George Harrison married Pattie Boyd, a model met during the filming of A Hard Day (AKA A Hard Day's Night). In the last years of the decade, Harrison and Clapton formed a close friendship strong. Clapton's guitar worked While My Guitar Gently Weeps song by Harrison published in the Beatles' White Album, although his work it has not been assigned, while Harrison played guitar in Badge, from the album Goodbye Cream, using a pseudonym. At that time, Clapton realized he was in love with Pattie Boyd. [2]
The title, Layla, was inspired by the novel in verse Leyla and Majnun, the classical Azerbaijani poet Nezami,here in the Atkinson version. Clapton came to know of the history of Nezami by his friend Ian Dallas, who at the time was converting to Islam. [2] The story tells of a princess, forced to marry, by the will of his father, a man other than the one who was madly in love with her, resulting in the latter's madness (in Arabic and Persian, Majnun means "crazy"). The story hit very Clapton, who attributed the story to his relationship with Pattie Boyd. [3]
Pattie Boyd divorced Harrison in 1977 and married Clapton in 1979, and divorced from him even in 1989 after several years of separation.
