PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! THE NEXT MORNING THEN here’s a union a bit odd even by our standards: five 'heads' from Trinidad hook up in NYC with an American keyboardist to form a Jimi/Sly-inspired Psychedelic psoul mired in heavyrock outfit in 1969. Sharing a love for heavy rock, Scipio Sargeant - (bass, guitar), Earl Arthur (organ), Bert Bailey (magic fingers guitar), Bailey’s brother Herbert (drums) and singer Lou Phillips quickly built a reputation as a powerful live act on the New York club scene, coming close to signing with Columbia– but unfortunately, they ended up inking a deal with Cala Records, a subsidiary of Roulette, thereby condemning themselves to the Mob tax write-off graveyard.Recorded at Electric Lady studios, Jimi’s ghost musta been hovering over the proceedings– Bert Bailey utilizes the same brand of six-string pyrotechnics of his undoubted mentor– right down to the whammy bar abuse and amplifier desecration. He even turns a few of the then-recently-departed one’s stock chord progressions inside out for good measure. Our pick to click is “Back to the Stone Age” where Bailey & Sargeant trade off and harmonize virtuoso fuzz licks over top of an intricate, disjointed-yet-ass-shakin’ arrangement not unlike the Funkadelic at their Maggot Brained best, patented a year earlier. Aside from Phillips’ very slight accent, you won’t hear a hint of the Caribbean– but what you do hear is a riot of exhilarating R&R / heavy psych. The style is pure psychedelic rock with a blues heart. The focus of the music is through the Hendrix inspired electric guitarist, who employs lots of fuzz and wah-wah. Add to that some excellent crazy Hammond organ and a solid rhythm section who are pure rock in style. The nearest parallel we come up with in terms of similarity is not a black artist but Cream, although there's clearly a lot of Jimi's influence. The compositional skill of the band is solid and they are all good musicians who make music which is great fun to listen to time and time again.
