PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. 1970 FIRST PRINT on the highly collected (underground rock) label Metromedia with impressive releases on the label by bands like "Christopher" UK Nirvana, Carolyn Hester's Coalition, Milkwood Tapestry, Sugar Creek and Quatrain. Besides the Christopher Lp, none of the Metromedia Lp's are as hard to find as the Velvet Night's only recorded album.
The Velvet Night (also known as the Gas House Kids) recorded in New York's Record Plant. The U.S. psych rarity originally appeared in 1970 and has barely been heard since. A mixture of HEAVY-PSYCH & several cool takes on songs by "Cream" - plus eerie originals such as the hard acid-rock title track "Velvet Night" is all presented here including the albums highlight, a strong psych-rocker titled "Freak Show." The album as a whole is quite impressive, pretentious and ambitious project, often compared to "Jefferson Airplane" - mainly because the band often was fronted by Lynn Boccumini, female singer with strong charisma and strong voice. This unique combination of female voice fronting for heavy acid act contributed to the moderate success of Velvet Night. Although not a major attraction, they achieved some status and following in NY clubs by the end of 60s. Lynn's soaring vocals and electric presence follows the style of the Airplane's Grace Slick. Lynn (also known as Mountain Dew) displays her wide range effectively often doing vocal trade offs with male band members in the band. The Velvet Night, album features all their own imprint and sound; for instance on the groups selected covers, they enhance the tracks bending the edges in their own way. Overall, the album captures the sound of the Velvet Night so classically on the cusp of late-'60s into '70s hard psych and underground heavyrock that it almost seems like it couldn't exist any other time. Overall it's is very rare and very interesting album of classic heavy psychedelia, always been hard to find.
