PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ORIGINAL 1970 first pressing ...never opened in 46 years .. vastly underrated & unknown to many...note: there are several tracks with a strong west coast '60s appeal, inc the devastating "Love Machine"
Country Joe and the Fish underwent a personnel change for this album adding drum player Greg Dewey (Mad River), and bassist Doug Metzner,(Group Image) and keyboardist Mark Kapner in place of David Cohen and Gary "Chicken" Hirsh. Primary composers Barry "The Fish" Melton and "Country Joe" McDonald remained, resulting in an album that retained the sound and style of the original lineup. The new lineup would tour extensively and were included in performance at the legendary Woodstock. Also this line up were included in the film Zachariah as outlaws.
The opening 'Sing, sing, sing' is very infectious, and catches the '60s hippie vibe. The real treat begins with the haunting beauty of 'She's a Bird' with some of most original reverb guitar playing heard coupled by great vocals from Country Joe. Side two is on par with side one and the band even explores some heavier rock that really breaks out. Some of the bands best and most solid underground rock with psych influences are found on side two, featuring Barry Melton's great aggressive fuzz guitar cuts through like a high voltage buzz saw on "The Love Machine"
