Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. This is a highly entertaining LP with Junior Walker blasting away during a nightclub date. Definitely hard wailing stuff from Jr and group – caught here in a smoking live setting, which really lets them open up! The record begins with an introduction by the Velvelettes, and ends with Earl Van Dyke performing "Heartbreak" – but the rest of the album's by Jr and crew, and titles include "Hot Cha", "Shake & Fingerpop", "Cleo's Back", "Shotgun", "Ame Cherie (Soul Darling)", and "Tune Up...
Feature here is Jounior Walker's first signature hit "Shotgun," written and composed by Walker featuring the Funk Brothers' James Jamerson on bass and Benny Benjamin on drums. "Shotgun" reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the R&B chart in 1965, and was followed by many other hits, such as "(I'm A) Road Runner," "Shake and Fingerpop" and covers of the Motown songs "Come See About Me" and "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" all performed on this platter delivering different renditions from their more constrained studio recordings. .
Junior's sax riffs, like B.B. King's guitar licks, mesmerize. Blowing hard or sweet, he manages to tantalize the ears with arresting notes sequenced and bent as only he can. His rendition of "Moonlight in Vermont" is simply beautiful; Junior shows he got skills. The funky "Cleo's Back" displays Walker's sax at its sassiest. Motown's keyboardist Earl Van Dyke provides the finale, a rocking "Heartbeat"; stepping up the tempo considerably, Earl pumped that Hammond like a crazy man -- it's amazing he didn't break one of the pedals.
We have here a beautiful rendition of "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" whose title is very fitting. The versions of "Shake And Fingerpop" show our heroes stretching out way more than usual but the killer here is the live version of "Shotgun." You will be amazed at the combination of gutbucket soul-shout and a sanctified revival that the studio version merely hints toward. You will NEVER hear this song in the same light again! The LP closes with a really beautiful warm "Heartbreak" that will wear you wanting more when it is over.
