PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. At the time of this session, Pete Franklin was in his early thirties. That was in 1961, but Pete didn't play like the blues players of his age, Magic Sam, Freddie King, Otis Rush or Jimmy Rogers. His music goes back to the thirties, and pays tributes to Leroy Carr, Scrapper Blackwell, Tampa Red or Walter Davis. guitar pete was not only an outstanding guitar-player, but also a fine pianist, what is very rare in the bluesfields. Most of the guitar-players, who also played piano had been limited to only only some themes like Bukka White or Lonnie Johnson.Pete Franklins repetoir consists of real old time stuff like " Fives" or " Black Girl".
it`s highly unfortunate that he nearly dropped out of sight after this great Bluesville recording
but his fondness of drinking due in part to the "lost interests" of blues promotors in the indianapolis scene sent Pete down that lost/forgotten road ...Make no mistake though, Pete Franklin shines with his beautiful smoky voice, and plays keys and guitar with great skill and taste. There are touches of melancholy in this album, great playing, and talented versions of old standards like "Black Gal", "Six White Horses", Curtis Jones' "Lonesome Bedroom Blues" and Tampa's "Grievin' Me". If you're a lover of pre-war blues, and if you like blues from Naptown, you'll sure enjoy this record.
