UK original 1st pressing 12" LP on the Black & White 'PLANET RECORDS' label.
PLL 1001. (1966). (MONO). Front laminated flip-back sleeve.
Recorded in London.
NOTE: This is the last time I will be listing this LP. If it sells, great - if not, then I'm happy to treasure this rarity for another 20+ years.
THE NIGHT AND DAY OF SCREAMIN' JAY HAWKINS is a UK recorded album that was SJH's follow up to the USA-only debut release 'At Home With Screamin' Jay Hawkins'... another BIG money collectible.
This LP was released on Shel Talmy's short-lived 'PLANET' label. This and supposedly one other album were released on the label. With the code PLL 1001 this is the initial album release of the supposed two. More famously, the Planet label housed great Mod acts such as The Creation and the Fleur Des Lis, who released 7" singles on this iconic, short-lived label.
This 1966 UK release is NEVER seen. It's now half a Century old! A couple of examples have surfaced over the years. I've seen two in record shops - both were priced over £200 over fifteen years ago. One sold online for £70 - but I think everyone was sleeping when that happened! Forget pre-determined book values or guide values. This is one of the most genuinely rare titles I have in my collection, and it's a beauty!
In this condition - (EX/EX+) I would wager very few copies are as nice as this.
Stunning audio with this MONO mix.
This example has a clean, intact, beautiful cover! This one has survived the last 50 years incredibly well. The sleeve grades EX for sure.
The black and white, textured PLANET labels are in lovely shape. Both labels grade a solid EX+ to Near Mint condition.
The vinyl has a very glossy lustre and it is free from any major flaws. Playback is glorious, warm and full sounding - audio and visual quality is excellent plus (EX+). Beautiful overall - no issues.
The front laminated sleeve grades a conservative EX on the front and back - absolutely stunning.
No real issues from I can see! Fully brilliant, glossy lamination, crisp spine, white has been being retained well, with vibrant print and colour retention. Very slight yellowing due to age, but fantastic nonetheless.
