...............Zhou Enlai (5 March 1898 – 8 January 1976) was the first Premier of the People's Republic of China, serving from October 1949 until his death in January 1976. Zhou served under Mao Zedong and was instrumental in consolidating the control of the Communist Party's rise to power, forming foreign policy, and developing the Chinese economy.
......... A skilled and able diplomat, Zhou served as the Chinese foreign minister from 1949 to 1958. Advocating peaceful coexistence with the West after the stalemated Korean War, he participated in the 1954 Geneva Conference and helped orchestrate Richard Nixon's 1972 visit to China. He helped devise policies regarding the bitter disputes with the U.S., Taiwan, the Soviet Union (after 1960), India and Vietnam. Zhou is best known as the long-time top aide to Mao Zedong, specializing in foreign policy. Their contrasting personalities made them an effective team, according to Henry Kissinger, the American diplomat who had extensive dealings with both men:
......... “Mao dominated any gathering; Zhou suffused it. Mao's passion strove to overwhelm opposition; Zhou's intellect would seek to persuade or outmaneuver it. Mao was sardonic; Zhou penetrating. Mao thought of himself as a philosopher; Zhou saw his role as an administrator or a negotiator. Mao was eager to accelerate history; Zhou was content to exploit its currents.”
......... Largely due to his expertise, Zhou was able to survive the purges of other top officials during the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s. His attempts at mitigating the Red Guards' damage and his efforts to protect others from their wrath made him immensely popular in the Revolution's later stages. As Mao Zedong's health began to decline in 1971 and 1972, Zhou and the Gang of Four struggled internally over leadership of China. Zhou's health was also failing, however, and he died eight months before Mao on 8 January 1976.
......... The massive public outpouring of grief in Beijing turned to anger towards the Gang of Four, leading to the Tiananmen Incident. Although succeeded by Hua Guofeng, it was Deng Xiaoping, Zhou's ally, who was able to outmaneuver the Gang of Four politically and eventually take Mao's place as Paramount leader by 1977. ….....

..............It should be noted – true vintage collectibles and antiques from China range from quite rare to very rare, for various reasons, which means they have an inherently high and resilient investment value – much different from many Western items (ie. beanie babies; baseball cards, etc.) ALSO, China has a growing 'nouveau riche', and with more wealthy Chinese even more will be searching for true vintage antiques and collectibles, hence a growing market. More details below.
.............
.............
.... ........ Also, please know -- a camera lens and flash highlight and even exaggerate faults and damage to an item................ ................ Hence, in reality the item always looks better than in a photo.........
.. ......AND, TRUE CHINESE ANTIQUES are NOT available here at some ridiculously low price. EVEN STREET VENDORS from the countryside all have some knowledge about antiques now -- and even with bargaining, the walking-away ploy, debating, etc. – the price is still high... SO, don't expect to see these REAL items selling online at some throw-away low price – NOT going to happen...............
..
..
................ As said, the inherent investment value of true Chinese vintage collectibles is often far greater than similar Western items. Western countries during the same era, were more wealthy and therefore able to 'stockpile' or retain such items. As well, North America was much more stable politically. In China, old vintage things were most often used until totally worn out or were destroyed by one national social upheaval or another such as the Cultural Revolution or war. Therefore, in regards to 'rarity', many Chinese items have an inherent high value. The same could be said for the Chinese 'culture' reflected in these items; it is a wholly unique and inimitable culture which was not 'cloned' elsewhere.

…......Epack shipping is special for Chinese Ebay items only; more on that later. But this is a new service and while reliable in shipping, it has a small staff and irregular hours and days – SO I WILL SHIP EPACK IF POSSIBLE, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE SENT REGULAR TRACKED AIR MAIL, which may take a bit longer...........
.......I have finally deciphered the arcane procedure for 'Epack' shipping – which is a bit cheaper but more important is twice as fast – one to two weeks. BUT IT IS ONLY available to the U.S / U.K./ Australia ….................... ALSO, for higher priced items (over $200?) customs duty may apply to Epack. Hence, if this concerns you, you may want to choose standard Air shipping, if speed is not so important.
.............
................SHIPPING SPEED – first let's say Chinese shipping is RELIABLE -- – but not particularly fast, even Epack can vary a lot. Hence, plan on 2 – 4 weeks to U.S., places like Norway even longer perhaps...........if you need it super-fast, tell me and I'll check those services and quote you...............

……………………. .........I've been an eBay seller for a long time. And I'm a good one. I have a large degree of integrity and do my utmost to ensure a fair and happy transaction. I've bought a lot of eBay so I know the value of a problem-free purchase. So, please, trust me; I'm doing my best for both of us. Nobody wants hassles. ..
.....
I'm now back in China after living in the U.S. and Canada for a time. I know China well, although Lanzhou in NW China is new to me. Still, I know what to expect in regard to antiques and collectibles and shipping. Hence, we should have no problems. ..
...
I avoid Chinese antiques and try to stay with safe things. I know how good the Chinese are at replication; and I learned the hard way like many people. But I never sold a fake saying it was otherwise. Never. But like I said, none of my stuff here is like that and if I am in doubt, I will tell you. Thanks. ..

PAYMENT:Usual suggested methods.
SHIPPING SPEED: I give you shipping choices. Please don’t blame me for slow shipping if you choose the cheapest method. Also, I am a working full-time so I may need a few days to get it mailed.
REFUNDS: If it is an obvious mistake on my part, full or partial refunds are given. Shipping refunds are dependent on the mistake. In certain refund situations I need the item shipped back to me – which has never happened but just in case. If it is clearly my mistake, return shipping could be reimbursed. But again, in all my years I've never had to resort to this.
GRADING QUALITY & ITEM DESCRIPTIONS: I always try to grade on the conservative side. I honor integrity and when I use words like "small, tiny, slight, minor”, this means what it says. For most items I use the scale -- Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor. I may add + or – signs to indicate more specifically. For example: Mint means never opened w/ perfect box; Very Good would be your average played with or used item, typical category of most vintage items before 1970. I rarely list anything in Fair or Poor.
