Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. One of the best sophomore HEAVY METAL albums ever conceived of, Ride the Lightning is a damn impressive thrash metal album that rightfully deserves the moniker of "classic". listening to it feels like walking into a brutal Russian winter, you've suffered frost bite, had angry Eskimos chasing you, awoken an angry sea god or two, and you just want to get home...but you cant, you live for the thrill your an adrenaline junkie! Seriously this album is a cold and atmospheric affair, even though the intro "Fight fire with fire" might mislead you of its chill, every single riff here brings you back to a harsh tundra for which there is no escape!"Fight Fire With Fire" starts off the album with a gentle acoustic guitar ballad, nothing out of the ordinary until that riff comes in and like an explosion rips the calm serenity into panick and discord, likewise the chaotic riff is brutal and relentless, starting off with the timeless "Do unto others as they've done to you", this is how to start an album!
"Ride The Lightning" classic title track that just "puts you in the hot seat" so to say, whats great about it is that it pretty much captures the agony the narrator feels as hes doomed to an untimely death, its very effective toward the solo in which it gets exceptionally brutal.
"For whom the Bell Tolls" the tolling of church bells in the distance, the sky is black, the gathering storm, the thunder of artillery, the spanish soldiers rush to defend the hill from there enemies whilst everything around them is relentlessly blown apart by whizzing shells....yeah epic. This song does justice to Ernest Hemingway's classic war novel and movie of the same name. Its brooding and foreboding and even though it doesn't really have a guitar solo to speak of, its still one hell of a song; one the fan favorite's on the album.
"Fade to black" as if this album couldn't get any heavier the mother of all suicidal power ballads comes in with a chill of acoustic serenity, and those classic 80's hammer-on's. Seriously its a dark depressing classic that still sounds as good as it did some 30 years ago.
"Trapped Under Ice" another great song that, similarly to the title track, conveys a deep sense of agony as the main character is "trapped under ice" and is trying desperately to escape,the franticness of the song does wonders to the cold atmosphere it creates.
"Escape" my third favorite, although its week compared to the others it still manages to pack a wallop and that's the point, one may just see the guards of this prison somewhere during the night randomly scrambling around trying to find this escaped convict. The riff makes it pretty kick ass especially the chorus as well.
"Creeping Death" feels like an iron maiden song, what with the opening riff and all, its another churning power rocker similar to fight fire with fire, and boy is it relentless! baisicly its about god killing the pharos first born son...huh.
"The Call of Ktulu" the metal equivalent of bolero, thats the best description one may have for this song, boy i can see the wind sweeping away the frost off the tundra while the opening guitar riff comes in, chills everytime! its a damn crazy song and for 9 minutes you get carried around on an epic voyage of frozen wastes and the titular sea monster/demi-god. A fan favorite on the album!
Damn powerful album it just reaks of the cold tundral planes, there is no escape from the chill.
