Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Long long gone thick gatefold ltd ed pressing of a powerful hard-psych album going under the name SLEEPY JOHN ...The Washington State psych band's total recorded output of music between 1969-1970 that includes heavy swirling organ coupled with fuzzed out guitars!!
This longhair quartet named themselves Sleepy John -- named after Tennessee "crying" bluesman Sleepy John Estes .
One of the top tier releases on the much vaunted archival psych collector label Rockadelic and certainly one of their better latter day discoveries, though the sequencing of this album wrongfoots this thundering Washington state's hard rockish psych unit a bit by front-loading the organ-grinding "River" ahead of the snarling slab of inventively distended acid thunder that is "Nothing". True, you'll groove with a small patch of Procal Harum-ish Hammond organ on the direct heels of that, and what follows is a deep trove of worthiness, with the best bits of smoked out heaviness here evoking the top heavy early '70s bands of the era...Having formed out of the ashes of several working bands, Sleepy John immediately drew from wellspring of developed original material, much of it in a straightforward hard rock vein, though with interesting strains of prog rock and rural music, and some subtle satirical inclinations. Improvisation was the quartet's forte, and its communal Sleepy John House was a hot spot for area musicians who wanted to jam. This helped the group, by early 1970, to develop a distinctive sound and, using connections made during the members' previous stay in Washington, to earn key gigs in neighboring Spokane (to where they would eventually relocate), after which they landed steady work throughout the Northwest and Canada, opening for and sharing stages with Badfinger, the Zombies, Moby Grape, and the Mothers of Invention, among others. Frank Zappa was so impressed with their music that he requested Sleepy John to play several dates with his recent discovery, Wild Man Fischer.
