Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.

  • "Made In England" - Gemeni - GMI 1004

  • ORIG 1970 PRINT / RARE COLLECTIBLE HEAVY PSYCH

The Ghost sound like they were trying for something like...maybe not exactly Black Sabbath, but somewhere between Black Widow and Lucifer's Friend's first album...The Ghost album from 1970 on the British Gemeni label is an early example of heavy psych rock and melodic flowing female folk rock rated quite excellent. Original pressings like this listing is quite rare selling in  mint-ish condition for $500 X $600-plus

THE GHOST briefly appeared like a spectral vision in Birmingham, England in the late-1960's. Their hauntingly-titled only album "When You're Dead - One Second" rose from the grave in 1970 before the band just as quickly disappeared in a wisp of hazy smoke like a phantom apparition. The  colorful album cover showed a ghostly translucent image of the band gathered around a large tombstone, headed by a Celtic Cross.

Right from the first few opening bars of
"When You're Dead", you can sense its gonna be an interesting wild psych-rock ride. Acid-drenched hard jams are reminiscent of early 70's underground heavy rock classics. In fact, The Ghost also have a strong resemblance to American West Coast sixties via the gloomy backstreets of Birmingham England.
The opening title track, a heavy psych stunner is in complete contrast to the second song "Hearts and Flowers" being gorgeous flowing folk-rock with beautiful melody floating and gentle waves of gorgeous guitar notes and uplifting harmonies. The song featuring Shirley Kent is a loveable tune having sparkling tendencies that may have been a 'hit' in potential if it had been released as a single.
Following up is "In Heaven" having a nice psychedelic sixties ring throughout. Then returns into gentler folk-rock territory for "Time is My Enemy", a poignant song about the passing of years conjuring fond memories in classic  Sandy Denny with Fairport Convention, although more of an unconventional slice of psych-folk with Shirley Kent sounding magnificent in voice for this hauntingly- beautiful song.
The album continues with intoxicating blends of driving hard rock tunes and gentle folk rock refrains. climaxing on "Too Late To Cry", a rousing rip-roaring rocker featuring extended psychedelic wah-wah guitar work.   The album includes The Ghost's magnificent magnum opus, "Night of the Warlock", a spirited 'Demons and Wizards' song that barrels along on a crazy helter-skelter headlong rush into psychedelic-nirvana, and "My Castle Has Fallen", is a storming medieval ballista firing on relentless percussive artillery within a barrage of pummeling psychedelic rock...

  1.   CONDITION:

  2. The cover: rated: VG very colorful laminated cover with 60's styled UK "flap-back" seams. Though appears presentable with protective outer plastic has seen some handling over the past 56 years with creasing to left, right and top right corner areas and light lamination handling crinkles at edges per pretty normal with aged UK/European covers. Center cover looks pretty nice/clean. Back cover with back-flap seams, lightly stained or soiled a bit and 4 spine crinkle lines to far right. having no delete marks, no split seams, and no writing.
  3. Still collectible despite wear mentioned

  1. The vinyl: Rated: VG+(+) fairly clean visually, plays dynamic though a slightly scuffy, no prominent scratches, yet heard surface crackle in few places, though majority played clean-very acceptable. All of the killer title track is fine, for instance. Opening priced is lower-off the going value.  Both UK Gemeni labels are very clean, hard to see spindle marks
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
