Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Long gone and scarce, little seen 1970 - 1971 rarities album by the powerful PATTO at their peak ... any fan of the band needs the tracks within ... was but a limited edition that vanished quickly and is a weight heavy triple thick 180 gram pressing ...

...Ducks In Flight features outtakes from the band's first two albums by none other than Mike Patto teamed up with the beyond talented Ollie Halsall on guitar. Patto's albums are all considered to be among the cream of British jazz rock, and this is no exception. Containing both previously unreleased tracks as well as previously unreleased versions, they further prove the talent of these four British cats in musical improvisation (just listen to 'Hanging Rope'). Ollie Halsall also really gives Leonard Cohen's 'Teacher' the royal six-string treatment!

Patto's music was an adventurous blend of rock prog and jazz with a bit of blues thrown in now and then for good measure. Any guitar enthusiast cannot fail to be impressed by the dazzling and inventive playing of Ollie Halsall, surely one of the most criminally overlooked guitar hero's deserving of far more recognition than he gets. In Mike Patto they had a great singer in the rock tradition with powerful and gritty tones though capable of subtle restraint. The versatile rhythm section of Clive Giffith's (bass) and John Halsey (drums) cannot be underrated and form an essential and dynamic base for Halsall's guitar excursions, laying down a solid foundation or equally at home playing subtler jazz patterns.

The music contained on this scarce album is the essential Patto with all their albums being easily top sought after collectibles. "Hanging Rope" at almost fifteen minutes long, and has the feel of a jam but reaches some fantastic highs with some particularly blistering guitar work from Halsall. On the flipside "Beat The Drum" features Olli Halsall playing vibes (and keys) with some excellent playing from all and jazz-cat vocals from Patto, working well. "Bad News" also features vibes but introduces some guitar after a restrained start. It's a more rocky song with complex rhythm overtones and builds nicely with a strong melody. Finally "Air Raid Shelter" closes with an alternative version from their wildly popular "Hold Your Fire" album...
