General Information

Grading

I visually grade the records in good light. I play grade the records, using good equipment (ie Thorens/SME/Linn), by spot checking several areas including all visible imperfections.

My grading system is based on the Record Collector (UK) system, though I have added in a NM grade (which I very rarely use). The grades and descriptions are:

Near Mint (NM) – The record essentially has no flaws. There is absolutely no deterioration in sound quality from when it was pressed.

Excellent (Ex) – Record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality

Very Good (VG) – Record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality. There may be noticeable surface marks and/or occasional light scratches.

Good (G) – Record sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and/or mild scratches.

Fair (F) – Record is still playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise.

Shipping & Handling

S&H is charged at the actual cost of shipping and packaging materials – I do not take a profit margin by charging more for S&H than what it costs me to send the LP to you.

(Nb – I no longer ship surface mail as I have found this to be unreliable in the past and it is only marginally cheaper than air mail)

Packaging

I pack all LPs in cardboard boxes, sandwiched between cardboard stiffeners and bubble wrap to provide impact protection. LPs are removed from their outer covers to prevent seam splitting.
