SAX 2441 blue/silver – MAHLER: SYMPHONY No.4 – KLEMPERER / PHILHARMONIA

1962 Columbia stereo recording on blue/silver label catalogue number SAX 2441.   Symphony No.4 in G major by Mahler with Otto Klemperer conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra and Elizabeth Schwarzkopf (soprano).
This copy is not for the perfectionist.  There is a light smudge mark on Side 1 and a 2½-cm scratch on Side 2 (which sounds much better than it looks).  Side 1 has light intermittent ticks for first 2 minutes plus about 15 random noticeable ticks later.  Side 2 has a faint crackle and 1 loud tick in the first few seconds plus about 5 noticeable ticks and a few very faint ones later.  Despite this it is still a delight to listen to.  Sleeve is very good.
