For MyYoutube Video of this album (Please Click Below) Music Track ''Honey Bee''

Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums purchased over a period of more than 45 years.   This album on offer is the 1st UK issue, 1st UK pressing. Rarer (STEREO) pressing Savoy Brown album 1968) on the 'deep grooved' Unboxed Decca labels Purchased from new and initially only ever played a minimal amount of times and recorded to tape Over 44 years ago, and then stored in a case for all of these years! (Importantly this has had only minimal play only) The audio is awesome throughout, top on all frequencies. I have play tested the vinyl  prior to listing. This plays through crystal clear and very vibrant without any distortion.  There are no nasty clicks or pops at all that I heard, any interference is very minor in my opinion. (so hard to find like this after 44 years). This album is totaly original with the original 1st issue very Clout & Baker printed in England cover is in awesome top condition and very (rarely seen like this) and original poly lined, Decca record sleeve without splits or tares!. This Savoy Brown album their second ever released in 1968 is highly sought after and collectable especially in this condition! Look 1 to 1 mother stampers , earliest for the best audio available on vinyl. In my opinion, the only way to hear this awesome blues album!

Savoy Brown, originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, are a British blues band formed in 1966, in Battersea, South West London. Part of the late 1960s blues rock movement, Savoy Brown never achieved as much success in their homeland as they did in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring!!

The band was formed and led by guitarist Kim Simmonds, whose dominating personality led to a myriad of personnel changes. Others have attributed the constant lineup adjustments to the "creative accountancy" employed by the band's manager, Harry Simmonds, brother of Kim!.

The original line-up included singer Bryce Portius, keyboardist Bob Hall, fellow guitarist Martin Stone, bassist Ray Chappell, harmonica player John O'Leary and drummer Leo Manning. Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band.

This line-up appeared on the band's 1967 debut album this album on offer, Shake Down, a collection of blues covers. Two albums followed in 1968, Getting to the Point, and Blue Matter!!.

In 1969 a single "Train to Nowhere" was released with a vastly different lineup, including singer Chris Youlden, who, with Simmons, took over primary songwriting duties for the band, on A Step Further that year. It was viewed by some as the last gasp of the blues scene in the United Kingdom.

They developed a loyal core following in the United States, due to songs such as "I'm Tired", a driving, melodic song from the album. They were one of the bands that UK Decca (US London/Parrot) stuck with through the lean times until they started selling records (it took four or five albums until they started to sell in the U.S.) !.

While the band is still active today, touring the world and recording regularly, only Simmonds has stayed since the beginning. Guitarist "Lonesome" Dave Peverett, bassist Tony Stevens, and drummer Roger Earl went on to form Foghat!. Original member and harmonica player, John O'Leary, is still active on the British blues circuit with The John O'Leary Band. Another singer, Dave Walker, would later join Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath!. Their bassists included Andy Pyle, who played with Mick Abrahams from Jethro Tull in Blodwyn Pig then later with The Kinks and Gary Moore. Andy Silvester had played with Wha-Koo and Chicken Shack. Savoy Brown also provided an outlet for the keyboardist and guitarist, Paul Raymond, who later went on to join UFO!!.

Getting to the Point is the second studio album by the British rock band Savoy Brown. It marks the debut of a vastly different lineup, still led by Kim Simmonds but fronted by new vocalist Chris Youlden!

It was released by Deram in 1968 and finds the group taking on more of the songwriting load, as opposed to their debut, which consisted mostly of covers!

The Vinyl

This is the original very thick and chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings , these are much more robust than later pressings and feature deeper grooves on these original 1st issues! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of warps! This looks awesome! on initial inspection of the playing surface this looks absolutely superbe  Still retaining its original deep glossy sheen from new!! LOOKS SUPERBE! On initial inspection, I find it hard to see a blemish on the playing surface! Only on close scrutiny could possibly any whispy sleeve removal marks or scuffs only, importantly no audio sounding scratches or any marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all that I can see or heard!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track as usual prior to listing, three times, at very loud volume on a top system! The audio is truly cristal clear and very vibrant throughout,  (no) loud clicks or pops certainly (no) jumps or skips  CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT ON ALL FREQUENCIES!  This has only ever been played by me initially when I purchased this album a few times only from new, and has been stored in a case for the best part of 40 years or more,,  certainly not overplayed in my opinion! Unbelievable to find like this! This is clear and vibrant with (no) signs of distortion or that this has been over played at all in my opinion! Please note minor isolated odd static type tick could be heard only at very loud volume in between isolated tracks or very quiet places only but nothing that spoilt the overall awesome audio enjoyment and in my opinion this album will be hard to surpass, it is important to note that this vinyl has been laying dormant in a case for over 40 years and a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves would contribute to any static tick or crackle. From my personal experience a constant clean before each play would reduce this and also enhance the audio quality, and it is also important to note that I could see debrit on the playing surface after play! ( Points to note, Being criticle, Please allow for some isolated background surface noise common on this stereo version album probably due to the early recording type on this vinyl) The audio graded at least excellent plus to very near as perfect in my opinion!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion as usual when describing the audio quality.  Please allow for the odd isolated static crackle\ticks ! Please remember that this is an original 46 year old vinyl that has been played and would have originally been played on a 46 year old system!

Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 40 years or more! From my experience this vinyl would benefit from a constant clean before each play! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves over a period of laying dormant, produces static crackle\ticks and constant cleaning reduces this static and subsequently enhances the audio quality!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original  stereo Decca poly lined sleeve has light creasing\staining with age only no splits or tares!  (see photos)

The labels!

These are the original 1st issue ''DEEP GROOVED' un-boxed DECCA ((STEREO)) labels They are SUPERB condition!   Amazingly there is just a minimal amount of spidering seen when  angled to the light THIS HAS ONLY BEEN PLAYED BY ME A FEW TIMES ONLY! (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round! (SEE PHOTOS) ''MADE IN ENGLAND'' IS FEATURED (ONLY UK PRESS)

The Cover

This is the original 1st press\issue flimsy  laminated  front only cover (sleeve printed in England (By Clout & Baker) these are very hard to keep or find in good condition like this one. This is in exceptional condition for 46 years old! No edge splits or tares and super glossy laminate appearance.! Please note, there are very minimal  laminate creases o mention at the front top edges and corners  and very light and minor laminate lift with age only at the spine  beginning to start only seen angled to the light, in my opinion very minor. (no) nasty names written at all the rear is exceptionally clean. This must be at least excellent IF NOT BETTER in my opinion!
