Another from my personal collection! This is the original (mono) pressing! These earliest UK mono pressings can not be beaten for the best audio quality than any other format out there in my opinion. Please note, This album is listed for its rarety rather than for its condition and is graded overall as excellent in my personal opinion. There is some surface marks/scratches/scuffs noted on the vinyl and there are some isolated static type ticks/background crackle/pops heard in quieter places but over all this is a very playable and extremely enjoyable record in my opinion.  I have carefully played the vinyl through prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge. The audio is generally clear and vibrant throughout,  This is complete with the original poly lined record sleeve and 1st issued laminated front only Clout
& Baker cover graded at excellent with some wear and tear with age but with no names written and no splits or tears.   Very rare original (mono) the earliest and most sought after!

Getting to the Point is the second studio album by the British blues rock band Savoy Brown.

It marks the debut of a vastly different lineup, still led by Kim Simmonds but fronted by new vocalist Chris Youlden.

It was released by Decca in 1968 with catalog number SKL 4935 and finds the group taking on more of the songwriting load, as opposed to their debut, which consisted mostly of covers.

One of the covers is "You Need Love" by Willie Dixon, which served as a blueprint for "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin.

Deram released the cd with three bonus tracks in 1990 with catalog number 820 922-2.

Savoy Brown, originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, are an English blues rock band formed in Battersea, south west London in 1965.

Part of the late 1960s blues rock movement, Savoy Brown primarily achieved success in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring

The band was formed by guitarist Kim Simmonds and harmonica player John O'Leary, following a chance meeting at Transat Imports record shop in Lisle Street, Soho, in 1965. The initial constant line-up adjustments were attributed to the "creative accountancy" employed by the band's manager, Harry Simmonds, brother of Kim.

The original line-up included singer Bryce Portius, keyboardist Trevor Jeavons, bassist Ray Chappell, drummer Leo Manning and harmonica player John O'Leary (O'Leary appeared on record with the band on its initial recordings for Mike Vernon's Purdah label).

Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band.

Jeavons was replaced by Bob Hall shortly after the band's formation, and this was followed shortly by O'Leary's departure and the arrival of Martin Stone on guitars. This line-up appeared on the band's 1967 debut album, Shake Down, a collection of blues covers

The Vinyl

On initial inspection the vinyl looks awesome retaining its original mirror like sheen. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping! ! Thicker and chunky slab of vinyl only found on 1st pressings like this! Note: Angled in very strong light can possibly be seen surface marks \scuff\scratches.  Note These do cause isolated static type interference in the form of isolated ticks/pops/crackle heard in some quieter places. Importantly there is no loud constant clicks or pops and certainly no skips or jumps. Also to note there is no distortion or signs that this has been over played in my opinion!

The Audio Quality

I have very carefully played this vinyl two times at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is trully stunning, cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! Without any distortion. Note: I heard some isolated background interference in some places in the form of static type ticks/pops and light background crackle in some places, ie in between tracks. Please note that I play these vinyls at very loud volume. There was nothing too bad  in my opinion that spoilt the overall enjoyment of this awesome album! The audio is graded at excellent in my opinion. Very playable and enjoyable. 49 years old!  I would class myself as highly critical when it comes dpown to the audio quality, Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normaly get it right!!

Summary: The vinyl plays through without skips or jumps and no distortion. There is background crackle/ticks/pops in some places and in between some tracks.

Please note I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static ticks\crackle/pops   (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 49 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 49 year old system! Grade at excellent inmy opinion, (with light interference as noted above)

Please note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 45 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks. A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!

The Labels

These are the original, earliest (Unboxed) Decca  labels  (see photos) ''Made in England'' is featured (only UK Press) minimal spidering can  be seen angled to the light only. There is little if (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round!

This is plain white poly lined Decca sleeve without splits or tares! Light creasing/browning with age. This is the original and the record is now always stored separately from the sleeve and cover!

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue Clout & Baker printed laminated front only cover! Please note,  the cover carries the correct mono catalogue number at the spine and at the rear  This cover is generally clean and straight. Note: There are some laminate creases to mention on the front. The laminate is super glossy. Note: There is creases in the laminate to mention top left hand corner and a couple of thumb type creases, and not through the cover. There is (no) splits or tares and the rear has some browning at the edges and some grubby type marks with light scuffing! There are no nasty creases at the rear. This cover is graded at near excellent my opinion !
