  SAVOY BROWN BLUES BAND SHAKE DOWN DECCA LP N/MINT VINYL Savoy Brown Blues Band – Shake Down
Savoy Brown Blues Band were one of the earliest of British blues bands, with founder guitarist and longtime member Kim Simmonds at the helm they helped launch the UK blues/rock movement that paved the way for such acts as Led Zeppelin. The band recorded their first singles for Mike Vernon ’s Purdah label in 1966 and quickly followed up with the landmark album “Shake Down”. Blues/rock and boogie music always was the band’s calling card. Shake Down was their debut album released in 1967 and features Brice Portius (vocals); Kim Simmonds (guitar); Martin Stone (guitar); Ray Chappell (bass); Leo Manning (drums) and Bob Hall (piano on “I Ain’t Superstitious”, “Little Girl” and “Shake ‘Em On Down”).
I would describe the vinyl on this record as “perfect” both visually and audibly.
 Side One: I Ain’t Superstitious; Let Me Love You Baby; Black Night; High Rise; Rock Me Baby; I Smell Trouble.
Side Two: Oh! Pretty Woman; Little Girl; The Doormouse Rides The Rails; It’s My Own Fault; Shake ‘Em On Down.
The album is on Decca Records, LK 4883. Matrix side one: ARL-7887-1A (stamped). Matrix side two: ARL-7888-1A (stamped).
Released in 1967. UK pressing. Mono.
Condition: (as Record Collector's grading system. If I see a mark it will be mentioned however light/small, apart from the usual very light paper scuffs/marks - usually caused by record being removed from the inner sleeve, which appear on nearly all old records and which are only visible under strong light)
Vinyl side 1: near mint (unmarked vinyl, plays without fault with hardly a crackle to be heard, just pure silence on the run-in and between tracks, looks and plays like new. “Near mint is my highest grading for an unsealed album”).

Cover (front laminated): very good (there is a 7cm circular area on the front where the laminate has small puncture marks probably caused by removing a circular sticker - doesn ’t look too bad though - see photos, bit of corner wear and small crease top left, some aging/dirty marks on the back cover, but still in good shape for 42 years old! - see photos).
The record plays like new with no jumps, skips or clicks and hardly a crackle to be heard.
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
