Another from my personal collection. This ia probably one of my favourite Savoy Brown albums! This scarce and hard to find original Boxed Decca Stereo pressing, a slightly later pressing (originally released on the unboxed Decca labels),, if seen are normaly worn and played to death! The vinyl looks and sounds awesome! I play test my records on a top system prior to listing at very loud volume and would class myself as highly critical! This has obviously only been played a very minimasl amount of times ever. The audio is very clear and very vibrant throughout and plays without any loud clicks or pops. Any isolated static crackle that may be heard during the play of this vinyl would probably be contributed to dirt and dust trapped in the grooves due to laying dormant for over 30 years. (Please note, it is noted that debrit was seen on the playing surface after play)  A constant clean before each play should reduce this!  The cover is in absolutely awesome condition graded at least excellent plus in my personal opinion, this will be hard to surpass! Very collectable and sought after like this!

Originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, their 1969 single "Train to Nowhere" (with singer Chris Youlden), was viewed by many as the last gasp of the blues scene in Great Britain. Although Savoy Brown never reached much acclaim in their home nation, they developed a loyal core following in the United States, due to songs such as "I'm Tired" (from their album, A Step Further), a driving, melodic song.

They were one of the bands that UK Decca (US London/Parrot) stuck with through the lean times until they started selling records (it took 4 or 5 albums until they started to sell in the US). In the late 1960s and 1970s, the band managed to penetrate the Billboard Hot 100. Superstardom perpetually evaded them, perhaps in part because of their frequent lineup changes, but despite that, Hellbound Train was a big album for them in the US!

While the band is still active today, only Kim Simmonds has stayed since the beginning. Guitarist "Lonesome" Dave Peverett, bassist Tone Stevens, and drummer Roger Earl went on to form Foghat. Original member and harmonica player, John O'Leary, is still active on the British blues circuit with The John O'Leary Band.

Savoy Brown's first album, Shake Down, featured lead vocalist Bryce Portius. Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band. Another singer, Dave Walker, would later join Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath. Their bassists included Andy Pyle, later with The Kinks!

Savoy Brown also provided an outlet for the keyboardist and guitarist, Paul Raymond, who later went on to join UFO.

Other notable members include Jeff Howell, who went on to play with Foghat and the Outlaws before returning to central New York, where he is considered the best carpet installer in Ithaca!.

The Vinyl

This looks awesome! on initial inspection of the playing surface This looks Awesome! (ALMOST LIKE NEW IN MY OPINION) Still retaining its original deep glossy sheen from new!! LOOK SUPERBE! I can barely see a blemish at all! Any that could possibly be seen would be whispy sleeve removal marks only!

I have played this through track for track as usual prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system and the audio is truly awesome certainly (no) jumps or skips CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT ON ALL FREQUENCIES! This has only ever been played a minimal amount of times only, certainly not overplayed! Unbeleivable to find like this! This is clear and vibrant with (no) signs of distortion or that this has been over played at all. Please note, Isolated Static crackle\tics were evident in some places, it is important to note that this vinyl has been laying dormant in a case for over 30 years and a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves would contribute to this crackle. It is also important to note that debrit was seen on the playing surface after play of this vinyl. From my personal experiance a constant clean before each play would reduce this and also enhance the audio quality! The audio must be at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion there are no loud clicks or pops and certainly no skips or jumps clear without distotion!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion as usual when describing the audio quality. Please allow for the odd static crackle\ticks ! Please remember that this is an original 30 year old vinyl that has been played and would have originally been played on a 30 year old system!!

Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! From my experiance this vinyl would benefit from a constant clean before each play! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves over a period of laying dormant, produces static crackle\ticks and constant cleaning reduces this static and subsequently enhances the audio quality!
