SATURNALIA was an obscure Brittish psychedelic band, leaving only one studio album as a target for the collectors of psychdelic rock albums. "Magical Love" was released in 1973 and contains slightly occult themed psychedelic progressive rock, resembling JEFFERSON AIRPLANE with their similar male/female double vocal concept and US West Coast psych guitar tones. The singers were Adrian Hawkins and Aletta, guitar was played by Rod Roach and the rhythm section had Richard Houghton on bass guitar and Tom Crompton playing the drums. Another comparison for the occult themed progressive rock album with male/female vocals could be BLACK WIDOW's "Return to The Sabbath", the first deleted and later reissued version of their "Sacrifice" album. Certainly a nice and recommendable obscurity for collecttors and fans of mentioned themes.
Produced by Keith Relf (Yardbirds, Renaissance, Steamhammer), Saturnalia made their 1973 debut with a beautiful 3D picture disc, which has since become a collector's item among fans of the genre. For this release Black Widow Records attempted to remain as faithful as possible to the original packaging (picture disc format with booklet, ticket and above all the 3D labels and a second 24 pages booklet) and the result is this fantastic reissue. Featuring the beautiful Aletta and Adrian Hawkind on vocals and Rod Roach on guitar. Hawking and Roach were previously together in Horse. A '70s British Psych Prog underground gem. 180 gram picture vinyl.
