M/M, Mint cond. Unplayed & Still Sealed in Original Shrinkwrap
This is the original 1st pressing, on 12" black vinyl of The Satanic Mass. Signed & inscribed by Anton Szandor LaVey in red pen on the back cover (where a section of the original shrinkwrap has been cut away) to Ruth Higgins, one of the original members of the Church of Satan. The full inscription reads: "To Ruth Higgins - With the Blessings of Hell! Anton Szandor LaVey, 25 Dec III aS." It includes a COA provided by the previous owner (who was the son of one of the founding members of the Church of Satan, and there is a photo of Ruth, as well as a photocopy of the inscription made out to Lenore Cosseboom (the mother of the previous owner, and founding member). The Satanic Mass recorded & reproduced, was conducted by LaVey, and recorded live at the Black House (Church of Satan), SF. It includes readings from the Satanic Bible, Hymns to Satan, The Invocation of Satan, etc. Murgenstrum, US, 1968, New still sealed.
This is a rarity in its own right, especially as this LP is still sealed, and has never been played; but the fact that it has been signed and inscribed by LaVey, using his full name, and dated on Chrismas Day, 1968, and was intended for one of the early members of the inner magic circle of the Church of Satan, makes this rare beyond belief. At this time, there were only about a dozen people who were members of the original inner circle of the Church of Satan, who met regularly at the Black House to participate in the rituals, ceremonies & discussions that followed, and each of them received a signed & inscribed copy of this LP, on Xmas 1968, as a gift from LaVey. It appears that Ruth was either not present, or forgot to take her gift, so her friend, Lenore (who was often the naked living altar in the Satanic Mass), kept the album for her. I t appears that Ruth never did collect her LP, and after Lenore died in 1984, the record became the property of Lenore's son, who was also involved in the Church of Satan, in those very early years. This is a piece of Satanic history, with incredible provenance! This would make a magnificent addition to any Satanic or occult library.
