This was the first posthumously released Sam Cooke album (the 1965 “Shake” being the final studio album Sam Cooke completed) and in a way it is a “concept” album, placing heavy emphasis on ballads, blues and torch songs (absolutely NO uptempo tunes here). Interestingly, RCA culled the material from both his Keen and RCA albums for this intriguing release, a few B-sides and obscure album tracks, as well as a new re-recording of Cooke’s classic ballad “Almost in your arms” included in the movie “Houseboat” starring Sophia Loren and Cary Grant, for which Cooke was nominated for Grammy award in 1959.  An easily overlooked gem of an album.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++. A few light abrasions  ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           The record comes in the original US Army stock inner sleeve.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

NOTE: The record comes without a custom jacket, and will be shipped in a plain, generic,  brown U.S. ARMU paper sleeve (not separately graded, but in a nice condition overall ) and then in a plain white, outer, cardboard sleeve)
